Zephyrs cruise to 4th straight win
The WESTCO Zephyrs hit on all cylinders Sunday afternoon as they whipped host Wheatland in a nine inning game, 11-2.
Mark Moran's crew pounded out 13 hits and scored eight runs over the final three innings to put the game away.
Joe Moran led the hitting attack with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. He also scored three runs. Moran had plenty of help. Starting pitcher Joe Sanchez went 2-for-6 with three rbi. Relief pitcher Eric Moreno and Ty Wilson also had two hits each. Moreno knocked in two runs, while Wilson hit his team leading sixth home run and knocked in his team best 43rd run.
Speaking of team bests, Moreno pitched five and one third innings of one-hit relief to get the win. He is now 7-1 on the season. Moreno also struck out nine three days after fanning 16 in a game at Spearfish. He now has 100 K's in 62 and two thirds innings pitched.
The Z's have won four games in a row an are now 28-16 on the year. They will play at Alliance tomorrow. That is scheduled to be our KNEB Game of the Week.
