Northwest, Ogallala and Sidney go unbeaten

Grand Island Northwest, Ogallala and Sidney went 3-0 on day one of the Twin City Volleyball Invitational Friday. Gering was 1-2 on opening day. Scottsbluff went 0-3.

Based on scoring Ogallala earned the top seed for action today. Sidney is second and Northwest third. Gering garnered the 8th seed for the championship bracket. Scottsbluff will play in the round robin part of the tournament at Bluffs Middle School.

Ogallala played at Scottsbluff High School Friday and got wins over Cheyenne South, 25-17 and 25-9, Torrington 25-21 and 25-13, and Scottsbluff 25-9, 25-9.

The Cats also fell to Cheyenne South 25-23, 17-25 and 25-12, and to Torrington 25-23, 25-16.

Second seeded Sidney played at Gering and had three two set wins against Gering, Gordon-Rushville and Alliance.

Gering opened the day at home losing to Alliance 25-21 and 25-20. Sidney topped Gering 25-18, 25-10. Then the Bulldogs ended the day with a 25-18, 25-23 win against Gordon-Rushville.

At Bluffs Middle School GINW topped Lexington, McCook and Rapid City Stevens in straight sets.
