North Platte sweeps Zephyrs

A run in the bottom of the seventh inning pushed host North Platte past the WESTCO Zephyrs 5-4 in game two of a doubleheader Tuesday night and capped a sweep of Mark Moran's crew.

North Platte had a 17-hit attack in the opener as they rolled past the Z's 12-4.

The second game was more competitive. After North Platte jumped out to a 4-1 lead after three innings the Zephyrs battled back to tie the game with two runs in the top of the sixth.

Eric Moreno went 2-for-4 in the opener while Joe Moran paced the Zephyrs, now 21-14, in the second game with a couple of hits.

While the Zephyrs were dropping two games at North Platte, the junior Express took two from North Platte Tuesday at Cleveland field. The Express pounded North Platte 12-0 and 10-3 to move their winning streak to seven games. They are 14-8 overall.
