McLain and Taylor earn honors for CSC

CHADRON – Two Nebraska Division II schools – Wayne State and Chadron State – have representatives as Nebraska Division II Players of the Week.

On the gridiron, Chadron State's Jonn McLain is the Offensive Player of the Week, while Benjamin Perry, of Wayne State and Trelan Taylor of Chadron State split the defensive player of the week.

In volleyball, Lauren Sieckmann, of No. 20-ranked Wayne State College receives the honors.

McLain, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound quarterback from Chadron, completed 15 of 19 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-7 victory over Western State. McLain, who won the award last week, didn't play in the second half.

Defensively, Perry, a 5-11, 215-pound linebacker from New Port, Fla., had a game-high 14 tackles with three sacks in a 24-19 loss to St. Cloud State.

Taylor a junior safety LaMesa, Calif., had five tackles and an interception he returned 38-yards for a touchdown.

Sieckmann averaged 3.91 kills and 1.783digs per set to help Wayne State go 3-0 over the weekend. She had 13 kills and 11 digs and four blocks in a 3-2 win at Augustana Tuesday night.
