East and West split on All-Star Saturday

As the history would indicate the West dominated in volleyball and the East in football as the West Nebraska All-Star games were held in Scottsbluff Saturday.

The action started in the afternoon as Cougar Palace, on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College, hosted the volleyball contest. The West took all five games, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21, 26-24 and 15-11.

Gering's Kayleigh Schadwinkel was named the Most Valuable Player for the West team. The Doane College recruit was coached by her father Craig one last time. Andrea Werth of Eustis Farnam was named the MVP of the East team.

Running the wishbone Saturday night at Bearcat Stadium the East football team dominated the West 20-0. The East ran for around 300-yards and got two touchdowns from Thatcher Vap of North Platte St. Pats.

Jeremy Callahan of Lexington added two field goals and two extra points for the East. He was named one of the games Most Valuable Players as the two field goals tied an All-Star game record. Center Austin Sis of McCook earned the other MVP honor.
