Scottsbluff and Gering winless in Ogallala

It was a disappointing day for Scottsbluff and Gering softball in Ogallala Thursday. The Bearcats and Bulldogs were two of the eight teams that got together for some games, and both the Cats and Dogs lost two games.

Scottsbluff dropped to 11-13 on the season with 10-7 and 3-1 losses to Southern Valley and Cozad respectively.

Southern Valley jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings then scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-3 lead to the seventh. Scottsbluff rallied for four runs but it wasn't quite enough.

The runs didn't come as easy in the second game. Cozad scored twice in the fifth inning to break a 1-all tie.

Gering dropped two games in a row for the first time all season as they dipped to 19-5 on the year. Cozad exploded for 11 first inning runs in the opener and were never threatened in the three inning, 15-3, win.

McCook also had a big first inning against the Bulldogs, scoring five runs. The Bison added four more runs in the fifth inning to go up 11-3 en route to the 11-5 win.
