So far a perfect start for the Bearcats

District B4 wrestling champ Scottsbluff is off to a fast start at the state championships in Omaha.

The CenturyLink Center crowd has seen the Bearcats sweep their first four matches. Juan Delacruz opened the afternoon with a pin at the 1:52 mark at 106. 113-pounder Keegan Hessler followed with a 15-2 major decision. At 120 Joseph Flores-Ybarra pulled out a 5-4 win and two-time defending state champ Colton Adams wasted little time at 132 with a pin at the 1:34 mark. The Cats still have three wrestlers to hit the mats.

Gering has had one of its four qualifiers wrestle. Baily Hort was a winner by major decision at 113.

Alliance is two for two so far. The Bulldogs have two pins from Devin Ushio at 120 and Walker Johnson at 126.

Also in Class B, Chadron has split two matches so far. Daniel Goings won by forfeit at 106, while Trace Strotheide lost by a pin at 126.

In early Class C action Mitchell is 1-1. Drew Gilliland won his 106 match by a pin in :53. Teammate Josh Zulkoski lost his 120 pound match 17-1. The Tigers have three more wrestlers to go in the first round.

Bridgeport had Dakota Swires hit the mat at 126. He lost an 8-6 decision. District champ Brandon Nichols has yet to go at 138.

Gordon/Rushville got a win with a pin from Garrett Shadbolt at 113.
