Mesa women top Chadron
CHADRON - Colorado Mesa's Sharaya Selsor and Aubry Boehme combined to score 47 points to lead the second-ranked Mavericks to a 95-62 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory Saturday at Armstrong Gymnasium.
Selsor, who entered the weekend averaging over 24 points a game, led all scorers with 25 points and Boehme had 22 and a team-high six rebounds. Selsor made 12 of 19 from the field and Bohme sank nine of 18.
The Eagles, now 4-17 overall and 4-13 in the RMAC, hung with the Mavs (21-0, 17-0 RMAC) in the first half - it was 39-33 at halftime - but Mesa went on a 23-10 run during a five minute stretch in the second half to pull away.
Kayli Rageth led Chadron State by tying her career-high with 25 points. The senior from Kimball made four of six 3-pointers and was seven of 11 from the field. She also tied for the team lead with eight boards.
Joining Rageth in double figures were Dallas Shaw and Kattie Ranta. Shaw scored 11 points and Ranta finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Also for Chadron State, Hattie Guzman had six points and five assists and Kate Simonton scored seven.
Mesa, which shot 56 percent from the field (39 of 70), had 26 assists on 39 baskets. Christen Lopez led the way with a double double, finishing with 12 points and 10 assists, and Selsor added six more assists. The Mavericks also took care of the basketball, committing just three turnovers.
