Wyoming's Gleeson honored
Laramie, Wyo. (Oct. 8, 2012) -- University of Wyoming true freshman punter Tim Gleeson was named the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the Mountain West Conference office.
Gleeson averaged 45.5 yards per punt on six punts in last Saturday's 28-35 overtime loss at Nevada. He placed two punts inside the Nevada 20-yard line -- one a 51-yard punt that was downed at the Nevada 14 and a 35-yarder that forced a fair catch at the Nevada 16-yard line. He also had a second 51-yard punt that resulted in a touchback.
In the fourth quarter, Gleeson helped change field position with a 45-yarder that was fair caught at the Nevada 23-yard line. His biggest punt under pressure came with about a minute and a half to play in the game when punting from his own 13-yard line, Gleeson hit a 54-yard punt. Gleeson helped Wyoming average 38.3 net yards per punt.
This is Gleeson's first Mountain West Player of the Week honor.
