Bulldogs top Bearcats 13-1

Gering seniors help Bulldogs to a win

Scottsbluff struck first, but Gering struck more often in a 13-1 Bulldog win over the Bearcats at Oregon Trail Park Thursday night.

Zoe Holscher led off the game for Scottsbluff with a single. Two more safeties by Barbara Calvert and Mikka Salazar the scored Holscher, but that was all the visitors could muster against Gering hurler Mikayla Butler who moved her record to 9-2 on the season.

Gering bounced back with a six-run bottom of the first. Junior Brooke Doggett delivered the key blow with a two-run single. Butler also delivered an rbi single.

Gering added three more runs in the second inning. Doggett and Isabel Thompson had run scoring hits. The Bulldogs put the game away early with a four-run third that halted the game because of the 12-run rule.

Ciera Booker had a run scoring double in the inning. Alexa Longoria, Doggett and Isabel Wolf also added rbi in the frame.

With the win Gering moves to 13-4 on the year. Scottsbluff drops to 3-11. Both teams will be in North Platte for tournament action this weekend.
