B&C season comes to an end

For the second year in a row Sidney needed two games against Gering to wrap up an Area 7 junior baseball championship. Last night they edged Gering 2-1 in eight innings to wrsp up the title. Gering forced the second game with a 12-2 six inning win in the opening game of the day.

"We played some really good baseball," coach Mike Jones said. "Caleb Geary pitched really well in the opener. So did Logan Conn in the second game."

Geary suffered the loss in the night cap as Sidney struck for a run in the bottom of the eighth. Lucas Rosenbaum singled to right to score Colton Onstott from third.

Gering took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the deciding game. Dillon DeMott reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on a single by Gage Smith. Sidney tied the game in the sixth when Bradey Holtz scored from third on a two out wild pitch.

In the opener, Gering jumped on Sidney with two runs in the first and led 5-0 after four innings. They iced the game with a five-run sixth.

Gering ends its season at 20-15.
