Chadron tops Scottsbluff in three

Cardinals remain unbeaten

Chadron came to town undefeated Thursday and left town the same way, but the 16-0 Cardinals were pushed to the limits by Scottsbluff.

After falling the first set 25-8, the Bearcats came storming back to push Chadron in the final two sets 25-19 and 25-20. Megan Burda's cats led 11-8 in the second set before Chadron put a run together to take a lead they didn't relinquish.

"I was proud of the girls," Burda said afterwards. "They battled back and played hard. They did some good things. We just had a hard time in the middle."

Senior Alexus Pinedo was named the KNEB Taco John's Player-of-the-Game. "She came to play tonight," Burda said. "I was pleased with her efforts."

The varsity win capped a three match sweep for the Cardinals. They won the freshman match in two and the junior varsity game 2-1.

Western Conference action in Alliance is next for both ballclubs. In fact the 7-13 Bearcats will try to bounce back against the Cardinals in their first match Saturday morning.
