Gering tops Scottsbluff in three

A senior parents night crowd at Scottsbluff High School Thursday night watched the Gering High Bulldogs sweep the Bearcats 25-19, 25-8 and 25-23. It was the second win in the past five days for Gering against Scottsbluff, and it marked the third win in four tries this season.

The hosts led 13-8 in the first set when Gering's Kelsea Preels took charge, serving eight straight points. For the night she scored 17 points and was named the KNEB Taco John's Player of the Game.

The second set was never in doubt as Gering jumped out to a 10-1 lead en route to the lopsided win. The Bulldogs never trailed in the third set, but Scottsbluff kept it close to the end.

Gering has now won five of six and moves to 12-14 on the season. They will play at Sidney Tuesday.

Scottsbluff has now lost five in a row while dropping to 8-14 on the season. They will play a triangular Saturday at Ogallala. McCook will be the third team involved.
