Scottsbluff and McCook dominate District B6 Track and Field Meet
Scottsbluff and McCook headed the field at the Class B6 District Track and Field Meet at Bearcat Stadium in Scottsbluff Thursday.
Scottsbluff topped McCook 128-99 to win the boys title, while the Bison girls topped the Bearcats 123.5 to 112 to take the girls crown.
The Bearcat boys got five first place finishes and showed great depth in the distance races to wrap up the district title.
Matt D. Klein led way with wins in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Jon Maag won the shot and finished second in the discus. Luke Worden raced to the 100 title, and the 3200 relay of Taylor James, Justin and Nathan Pritchard and Ben Willis-Teff broke the tape.
James got a second in the 800, Justin Pritchard was 2nd in the 1600 and Matthew Barrazza got a second in the 3200.
Gering got a win from Zach Bibb in the high jump and Ryan Schwartzkopf was second in the 400.
The Scottsbluff girls placed second using great depth. Freshman Chesney Walker was the only first place performer for the Bearcats. She won both the 100 and 300 hurdles, and was part the second place 4x100 relay team.
Taylor Muncie also had a good day for the Bearcats. She was third in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and was part of the second place 3200 relay team.
Gering had a couple of first places on the way to a fourth place team finish. Megan Upp won the high jump and Rachel Huffman took the 1600.
Sidney was second in the team standings and had a big day from Morgan Linneman. She won the 100, 200 and was second in the 400. She also anchored the Raiders first place 4x100 relay team.
