Trio of Eagles honored

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State's Keifer Burke and Alex Ferdinand were each named players of the week by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference following the Eagles' come-from-behind victory at New Mexico Highlands last Saturday.

Keifer Burke is the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Ferdinand is the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Burke, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive end from Brady helped the Chadron State defense earn a tough victory at New Mexico Highlands. He finished the game with eight solo tackles, including four sacks and a forced fumble.

Burke, who now has 16.5 sacks in his career to rank in the school's top 10, was also named the Nebraska Division II and Beyond Sports Network Defensive Player of the Week.

Ferdinand, a sophomore kicker from Rapid City, S.D., connected on all three of his field goal attempts and four extra points. His field goals covered distances of 40, 34 and 31 yards.

In addition, Chadron State quarterback Jonn McLain is the Nebraska Division II Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore signal caller from Chadron completed 37 of 65 passes for 381 yards and four touchdowns.

The 37 completions and 65 attempts are both one shy of school records owned by his older brother, Joe.
