Gering sweeps Chadron

Gering Platte Valley Companies took care of business in Chadron Wednesday night, sweeping a doubleheader from the hosts 5-1 and 12-0. The second game was called after four innings.

Dillon DeMott and Caleb Geary dominated the Chadron hitters, limiting them to just three hits in the two games. DeMott fired a seven-inning one hitter in the opener. he struck out nine and walked two.

Gering jumped out to a 1-0 lead after one inning. Chadron, playing as the visiting team in the opener, tied the game with an unearned run in the top of the second, but PVC quickly gained control with a four run second.

Walker Britsch led the way at the plate for PVC with a three-rbi night.

The nitecap was never in doubt as Gering struck for five runs in the top of the first. Logan Conn was the hitting star for Gering in game two, with two hits and three runs scored.

Galeb Geary gave up just two hits and struck out four to get the win for Gering, now 9-16 on the season.

Gering is in Rapid City this weekend for a three day tournament hosted by Post 320.
