CSC football camp opens Monday

CHADRON – The Chadron State College football team hopes to pick up where it left off last spring when it begins practice next week.

Head Coach Jay Long said the Eagles will report the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 8, have their pictures taken and attend several meetings in the evening. Some weight room testing will take place Thursday morning before the first practice at 3 p.m. that day.

The opening game will be Thursday, Aug. 30 at Montana State in Bozeman. The Eagles will also play at Angelo State in Texas and at Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction before they have their first home game on Sept. 22 against Western State.

Long said there are 131 lockers in Armstrong Gymnasium and he expects nearly all of them to be filled during fall camp. Seventy members of last year's 6-5 team are returning to go with about 55 freshmen.

The preseason roster includes 23 lettermen on offense, 28 on defense and both of last year's kickers. There are nine starters returning on both sides of the ball.
