Cougar soccer falls to Trinidad

TRINIDAD, Colo. – The Western Nebraska Community College men's and women's soccer teams suffered losses Friday afternoon against Trinidad State Junior College in Region IX action.

The Cougar men fell to the Trojans 4-1 while the Cougar women lost 2-0. For the Cougar women, they are in a must win against Otero Junior College on Saturday, but that is only if Northwest falls twice this weekend.

In the men's contest, the Cougars led 1-0 at halftime as Guiherme Camargo scored in the first half. WNCC couldn't hold the lead as the Trojans scored four times in the second half for the win.

On the women's side, both Trinidad and WNCC went scoreless in the first half. In the second half, the Trojans scored two goals to qualify for the regional tournament, which takes just the top four teams for the regional/district tournament.

Both teams will wrap up the regular season on Saturday against Otero Junior College. After that, the Cougar men will head to the regional tournament next weekend in La Junta, Colo. The women will have a wait and see if there is post-season play for them.
