Cougar scrimmage Saturday: ball girls needed

The No. 1-ranked Western Nebraska Community College volleyball team's blue and gold scrimmage scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17 will start at 5 p.m. at Cougar Palace.

The scrimmage will be a prelude to the season which they kick off Aug. 23-24 at the Reiver Classic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Cougars are slated to play No. 4 San Jacinto and No. 2 Iowa Western Community College on Friday and No. 6 Salt Lake Community College and Barton Community College on Saturday.

Also, WNCC head coach Giovana Melo is looking for ball girls for the home matches this season. Melo said any girl in the fifth grade or higher can be a ball girl at one of the Cougars home matches. She needs several girls during the matches.

The home matches are Tuesday, Aug. 27 against Casper; Thursday, Sept. 19 against Western Wyoming; Sept. 21-22 with the Wyo-Braska Tourney; Tuesday, Oct. 1 against Eastern Wyoming; Thursday, Oct. 10 against Otero; Friday, Oct. 11 against Lamar; Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12 against Trinidad; Tues, Oct. 15 against McCook; and Friday, Oct. 18 against Northeastern Colorado.
