Gering goes 1-1 on Sunday
A seven run sixth inning by Gering Platte Valley Companies broke open a 4-4 tie and propelled Doug Jones' team to an 11-4 win over Stugis in Rapid City Sunday.
The win capped a 1-1 day. Earlier PVC fell to Rapid City Post 320, 5-4.
A Zach Smith two-run double scored the winning runs for Gering in the nightcap. Nate Marquez and Grant Rimington led off the inning with signals before Smith delivered. Five more runs crossed the plate before Sturgis put out the fire.
Bret Orozco picked up the win for PVC, now 21-17 on the season after winning three of four in Rapid City.
PVC lost their first game of the day to the hosts after jumping out on top 3-0 in the first inning. PVC was up 3-1 after two innings, and they led 4-1 after three, but Rapid City came back with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull out the win.
Colin Chatterton led PVC at the plate with two hits and two rbi.
Chadron is up next for PVC. They will visit Oregon Trail Park Tuesday afternoon.
