Hold on to your seats!
It's going down to the wire in Class B at the State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke Stadium.
Scottsbluff, Elkhorn South and McCook all have a shot to win the boys title heading into the final event on the track, the 1600 relay. There is also one event left in the field, the long jump, where McCook has Jacob Schlager competing.
All three schools have a relay team running...and they are all in the same grouping.
Going into the final relay Scottsbluff has the team lead with 55 points. The Cats are hoping for a repeat title, but Elkhorn South has charged to within striking distance with 51.5 points. They picked up 13 points in the recently completed 200.
McCook is third with 43 points. Scottsbluff has the sixth fastest district qualifying time time in the field. Elkhorn South is seventh and McCook eighth. Just one second separates the three.
