Wheatland explodes to top Zephyrs
A major explosion was experienced at Cleveland Field in Scottsbluff Sunday. There were no fatalities, just a dazed WESTCO Zephyr baseball team.
Wheatland scored 11 runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull out a come from behind 17-9 win during day two of the NTC Tournament.
Wheatland had a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, before the Z's caused what proved to be a minor tremor by scoring five runs to take an 8-6 lead. Mark Moran's crew added one one tally in the bottom of the eighth to take a 9-6 lead into the ill-fated ninth.
Wheatland pounded out 18 hits for the game. Two players had four apiece. Eric Moreno paced the home team with a three-hit night. He also knocked in two runs.
