Miller and Bober honored
ST. LOUIS -- Eric Miller and Megan Bober of Creighton University have been
selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week,
Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today. Miller and Bober were honored for
their performances during the period of November 5-11.
Now in its 14th year of existence, The Valley¹s Scholar-Athlete program
honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week
period and academic success in the classroom.
A midfielder/defender for the eighth-ranked Creighton men¹s soccer team,
Miller, a sophomore from Woodbury, Minnesota, earned all-tournament team
honors, as the Bluejays defeated SIUE, 2-1, in the title match at the
Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Peoria, Illinois.
Miller, who has a 3.71 cumulative grade-point average in business, scored
his first goal of the season and then assisted on Vincent Keller¹s
double-overtime, game-winning goal in the Bluejays¹ 3-2 victory over Drake
in the tournament semifinals on Friday, November 9.
A setter for the 23rd-ranked Creighton volleyball team, Bober, a senior from
Murdock, Nebraska, had a double-double and a triple-double, as the Bluejays
beat Indiana State (3-0 on November 9) and Illinois State (3-1 on November
10). Bober enabled Creighton to claim at least a share of its first MVC
regular-season title in program history.
A five-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week choice in 2012, Bober, who has a
3.827 cumulative grade-point average in exercise science, averaged 9.29
assists, 2.57 kills and 1.29 blocks while hitting .378 in seven sets.
To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week
laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of
3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must
be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible.
In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be
evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
