Another Winchell is having a good rodeo
Shelby Winchell's rodeo exploits have been well documented through her high school career and beyond to Eastern Wyoming College, and now Chadron State. But don't look now. There is another Winchell stealing headlines.
Little sister Libby is doing quite well. She is currently leading the goat roping competition at the National Junior High Rodeo in Gallup, New Mexico. Competition got underway Monday and will run through Saturday.
In her first go-round Tuesday she was second with a time of 8.06. She trailed only Kaitlyn Miller out of Utah, who had a time of 7.84.
In her second go-round Thursday Winchell finished fourth with a time of 8.43 and that shot her to the top of the standings. Miller dropped way down. Winchell's average is 16.49. She has over a one-second lead on second place Brianna Denton of Rocky Ford, Colorado. A Creighton, Nebraska cowgirl, Maddee Doerr won today's go-round with a time of 7.745. She sits fourth overall out of 127 competitors.
