Krzyzanowski defends title
Gering's Kaitlyn Krzyzanowski is the Best in the West golf champion for the second year in a row, but it didn't come easy for the Bulldog senior.
Krzyzanowski trailed in Wednesday's meet at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering by five shots with nine to play. She rallied from a season high front nine score of 48 to tie Chadron's Kelli Haynes at the end of 18 holes and force a playoff.
After firing a back nine 37 Krzyzanowski and Haynes tied at 85, three shots better than Sam Rahmig of Gering. Danielle Brennan of Alliance was fourth with a 91. Amber Fertig of Gering rounded out the top five with a 93.
