Northwest captures Twin Cities Volleyball Invitational
Grand Island Northwest captured the Twin Cities Volleyball Invitational Saturday, topping Ogallala in the championship match 25-21, 25-21.
Northwest topped Torrington in its first match Saturday 25-17, 25-13. In the second round the third seeded Vikings whipped second seeded Sidney, 25-14, 25-12.
Ogallala made it to the championship match with a first round win Saturday against Gering, 25-12, 25-17. They topped Rapid City Stevens in the semifinals 25-21, 25-11.
Stevens took the third place match over Sidney, 25-15, 25-22. Torrington captured fifth place with a 25-15, 25-22 win against Alliance.
McCook topped Gering in the 7th place game 25-11, 22-25 and 25-23. The Bulldogs lost to Alliance in the second round 25-17, 25-23.
While Gering suffered an 0-3 day, co-host Scottsbluff went 3-0 in round robin play at Bluffs Middle School.
The Cats topped Lexington in its first match of the day 25-13, 25-13. Megan Burda's crew followed that up with a 25-16, 25-12 win over Cheyenne South. South had topped Scottsbluff Friday. The Bearcats closed out their day with a 25-19, 25-11 win over Gordon-Rushville.
