A good Thursday for Bearcat sports

Jordan York paced Scottsbluff on day one

The Kenna Hubbard era started out well Thursday night at Scottsbluff High School as the Bearcat volleyball team topped Alliance 25-22, 14-25, 27-25 and 25-19.

Senior Makayla Castro led the way with a triple-double. Sophomore Kelly Wentz added nine kills for the Bearcats, while Kyra Wilats had 15 assists and seven points.

The Bearcat season continues this weekend at a tournament in Gillette.

Already in Wyoming is the Bearcat girls golf team. They hold the lead after one round of the Cheyenne Invitational. Mike Klein's crew placed four golfers in the top ten on day one. They have a five stroke lead over second place Casper Natrona.

Eryn Ellis of Natrona had the best opening round with an 80, one stroke better than Amanda Hinchey of Kelly Walsh. Jordan York paced Scottsbluff with a third place 83. JaLee Pilkington sits in a seventh place tie with teammate Megan Pilkington. Both had 84's. Kim Moore was tied for 10th with an 87.
