A 56-year-old Scottsbluff man who was convicted in a 2015 child sexual assault charge has been arrested again on a similar charge.
Mario Herrera was arrested on Friday on a charge of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Court documents allege Herrera touched a 3rd grade girl while she was staying at her aunt’s house.
The aunt said following his 2015 arrest, she asked her niece if Herrera had ever touched her. The girl confirmed that he had, but the aunt didn’t say anything because “she did not how to approach the subject” and “has a lot of guilt over that.”
Herrera will make his first appearance on the latest charge on Monday in Scottsbluff County Court. He was sentenced to 365 days in jail on the 2015 conviction, as well as having to register as a 15-year sex offender.
