Backpack Food Programs Get Boost from Oregon Trail Community Foundation

The Oregon Trail Community Foundation has awarded a grant that will help the Cooperative Ministries Weekend Backpack Programs keep functioning in the face of high demand.

OTCF has given the Cat and Pup Pack food programs $5,000 to go toward the efforts to combat food insecurity in the area.

Between the two programs, some 225 packs are going out weekly at a cost between $6.00 to 7.00 each, and it was disclosed last month that the effort would run out of supplies and funds by the end of December.

One hundred percent of the money that goes into the program goes straight to groceries, with all of the shopping done locally.
