Cause yet to be determined in early Sunday Scottsbluff fire

Investigators have yet to determine a cause of a structure fire early Sunday morning that drew a significant fire response.

One engine and the tower truck of Scottsbluff Fire were called to 810 Ferdinand Plaza at 2:11 a. m. Sunday morning, finding flames on the first floor of the structure.

Mutual aid was called according to Capt. Justin Houstoun, with 2 engines each from Gering Volunteer and Scotts Bluff Rural Fire Departments. Houstoun says firefighters had the blaze under control and cleared the scene around 4:30 a.m.

While the flames were contained to primarily one office and a hallway, Houstoun described the damage as ‘significant’ with water and smoke damage to the first floor, and heavy smoke damage on the second floor. No one was in the structure at the time firefighters arrived.
