Charges Dropped Against Man Accused in Gering Sexual Assault
March 30th, 2021 | Ryan Murphy

Charges have been dismissed against a South Dakota man who was accused of sexually assaulting a Gering teen in the summer of 2019.

26-year-old Kevin Alvarez-Meza was arrested last  year after  a 17-year-old girl reported the alleged assault to authorities.

He had pleaded not guilty to the class 2 Felony. When he was back in Scotts Bluff County District Court last week for his pretrial hearing, Deputy County Attorney Kirk Fellhoelter filed a motion to dismiss the case.

Fellhoelter tells KNEB News that upon a review of all the facts and circumstances of the case, there was insufficient evidence to move forward. District Judge Leo Dobrovolny ordered that the case be dismissed with prejudice at the state’s cost.
