Conservative Republican Colonel Tom Brewer has defeated incumbant Senator Al Davis to win the 43rd Legislative District in Tuesday’s election.

After being announced as the winner, Brewer told KNEB News property taxes will be the biggest challenge he expects to face in the legislature.

Brewer says giving a voice to western Nebraska probably needs to be the first thing, and with that, he says there has to be a way to reshape the property tax and make sure that the farmers and ranchers aren’t taking the beating they are now.

Brewer said his victory proves that Davis’ votes to eliminate the death penalty and on immigration issues did not fit with the conservative values of the voters in the district.

Brewer says he has only four years, and plans to do as much as he can in that time. He says if that means getting in peoples faces, that’s what he will do.
