Governor Pete Ricketts was in Bayard today to celebrate the Sparks grant awarded to the Bayard Public Library.
The new “Homework Hotspot” provides fast broadband internet to Bayard students who otherwise may not have access to high speed internet.
The grant money was used to implement fixed wireless technology and antennas on the top of the library and the school. The connectivity will now offer the students and staff the ability to access the school district’s network within the public library.
The grant was made possible by the Nebraska Library Commission and is part of $25,000 awarded to five smaller Nebraska communities to kindle partnerships between schools and libraries.
