A Kimball man who was recognized as among some of the first Panhandle residents to contract COVID-19 last March, becoming hospitalized on a ventilator and ultimately beating the virus, has died in a tragic accident in Garden County.
Sheriff Michelle Quinn confirmed to KNEB News that John Aguiniga died as a result of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Quinn says Aguiniga was working for his employer at the time, driving a semi hauling a side-dump trailer full of manure when the crash occurred northeast of Oshkosh on County Road 183.
According to Quinn the investigation is still active, with authorities trying to determine the chain of events that led up to the fatal accident.
