Authorities say five people died as the result of a two-vehicle accident north of Bridgeport Sunday evening.
The Nebraska State Patrol says two adult women and three juvenile girls ages 9, 13 and 14, died from injuries sustained when the driver of their northbound SUV lost control, the vehicle crossed the center line, and was struck by a southbound semi.
The accident on U.S. Highway 385 took place around 6 p.m. near the intersection with Nebraska Highway L-62A on Angora Hill.
Officials say restraints were in use by all of the SUV occupants. The driver of the semi was taken to Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport for injuries sustained in the crash.
The names of those involved have not been released, and the accident remains under investigation.
